Movie News: ’42′ Actor To Play James Brown In New Biopic
42 year old actor Chadwick Boseman, wowed the world with his portrayal of Jackie Robinson in the 2013 film, “42.” Now the actor takes on yet another dynamic role, this time playing none other than James Brown in the upcoming biopic “Get On Up.”
Tate Taylor who directed “The Help” has signed on to direct “Get On Up.” The film is being shot in Mississippi and stars Boseman as the Godfather of Soul, Craig Robinson, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Jill Scott and Tika Sumpter who plays singer Yvonne Fair.
The film follows the young James Brown as he rose out of poverty, and avoided a path of violence during his rise to prominence, leading him to become one of the most legendary and influential musicians of all time.
Before his passing in 2006, James Brown was involved in “Get On Up” behind the scenes. Sources say to achieve Brown’s legendary vocals, Taylor will use a combination of Boseman’s voice and an overlay of the singer’s actual voice. How’s that for technology?
“Get On Up” is expected to hit theaters on August 1, 2014.
